The
multiple spheres of influence enable various players to maximise their
interests. These oscillating relations --along with a sense of
‘unpredictability’-- perhaps, in itself maintain a balance.
But, a very fragile balance.
Contemporary
war history serves as an example of the detrimental mix of many powers
plus conflicting/colliding national interests. Though, military
modernisation adds another layer of ‘balance’- but that too, appears to
be a fragile one.
