Pakistan
definitely matters in the global context with a burgeoning population
of around 200 Million, it is the sixth most populous nation in the
world, and its nuclear capability. In a recent Bloomberg article, Tyler
Cowan, selected Pakistan (perhaps rightly) as one of the most underrated economies at present.
The
article goes on to state that Pakistan does not have a great external
reputation, based on a USA Poll ranking of 136 out of 144 countries;
exactly who the respondents were, or what the questions were, or what
the sample size was, is not explained making it difficult to assign any
real credibility to the results. It is further contended that a Google
search provides leading entries associated with terrorism issues for
Pakistan. Incidentally, I Googled Pakistan and found associations with
Cricket, Ratings, Stock Market, Middle Class, CIA, and terrorist attacks
and violence on Pakistan.
