after Modi’s effort to brand Pakistan as “the mother ship of
terrorism”, a recent development which lacks transparency so far, has
occurred in Islamabad. News reports state that a three member Afghan
Taliban delegation arrived in Islamabad, following a “secret”
Taliban-Afghan talk mediated by the US in Qatar. While the exact nature
of the meetings between Afghan Taliban and Pakistani officials remains
unclear, various news reports claim that:

The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said, “The delegation was
sent to discuss some major issues with Pakistani leadership including
the arrests of Afghan refugees and their repatriation to Afghanistan.”
They also stated that Pakistan recently arrested some senior Taliban
commanders to show their “displeasure” at being left out and that the
