The
government has its eyes fixed on 2018—that being the year for the next
general elections. Nothing wrong with that because that is what politics
is all about. The surprise is that they seem to have put all their bets
on turning the energy situation around by that time and the logic is
that once the energy puzzle is resolved the domestic socio-economic
environment should start looking up. The plans to bring this about are
ambitious with many new projects being undertaken as well as conversions
of older ones to more efficient models. The concern is that the
deadlines need must be met are not looking realistic.
